Numbers, prices and paying
Understand prices, hear numbers correctly, and handle the checkout with confidence.
Prices are written with a comma for decimals: €3,50 means three euros fifty. Cashiers often say the total quickly — these basics help you catch it.
Good to know: Watch out: German says two-digit numbers 'backwards'. 21 is 'einundzwanzig' = 'one-and-twenty'. 95 is 'fünfundneunzig' = 'five-and-ninety'.
