Smart questions to ask the interviewer
Having no questions reads as low interest. Here are thoughtful ones that also help you judge the job.
At the end, you'll be asked 'Do you have any questions?' (Haben Sie noch Fragen?). Always have two or three ready — it signals genuine interest and helps you evaluate the role.
- What would success in this role look like in the first 6 months?
- How is the team structured, and who would I work with most closely?
- What are the biggest challenges the team is facing right now?
- How do you support employees who are still improving their German?
- What are the next steps in the process, and when can I expect to hear back?
Tip: Avoid leading with vacation and salary if it hasn't come up yet — ask about the work and team first, then practicalities.
